Sweetgrain Mills

This was a practice project . The goal was to create a brand that was trustworthy but friendly, while honoring its heritage as a family company.

Inspiration

The inspiration behind Sweetgrain Mills’ brand is rooted deeply in the traditions of stone milling and small-town farm life. The painted typeface nods to old barn-side advertisements, a familiar part of the Ohio landscape. The milling process inspired the various textures that bring interest and life to their style.

Design Strategy

The brand for Sweetgrain Mills blends heritage with a handcrafted warmth. A farm-based palette of earth tones reflects the natural richness of the grain and soil, while patterns inspired by millstone furrows and wheat textures bring depth and movement across materials. The visual identity feels honest, enduring, and made with care—just like the flour.

This is a mock project created for portfolio purposes. Brand story and client responses were developed in collaboration with ChatGPT to simulate a real-world design process.
